EAST SHORE – Flathead Lake
The East Shore runs south from Bigfork, on the east side of the lake to Polson, along Highway 35. This rugged shoreline offers magnificent views of the lake to the west with heavily timbered mountains to the East. This side of the lake is known for its endless summer days, with the sun not setting until after 10:00 pm. The East Shore of Flathead Lake is also known for its many cherry orchards. The lake’s microclimate is ideal for growing cherries, with its warm summer days and cooler evenings.
Communities on this side of Flathead Lake:
Woods Bay – A small community nestled along the shoreline of a protected bay. Woods Bay is the perfect place to take part in all water activities, such as water skiing, wakeboarding, or paddle boarding. This area offers several lakeside dinning options, marina, and boutique hotel.
Yellow Bay – Small, rural lakeside community with seasonal restaurant and lodging.
Finely Point – The largest peninsula on the lake, creating two large bays on either side of it, to the north Skidoo Bay, and to the South East Bay. The point along with several small islands, forms the “narrows” a narrow waterway leading to Polson Bay. The shoreline is primarily made up of pebble beaches. This area is a little more rural than the rest of the lake, offering a very peaceful setting to enjoy the natural beauty of Flathead Lake, but all the conveniences of the Town of Polson are just 10 miles down the road.
